About this course
In this advanced course, we take learning about writing reports to the next level. Building on the teaching in our Workplace Investigation Fundamentals course, we review specific aspects of report-writing in more detail, including preparing allegations, summarizing the investigative process, and writing more effective findings. This highly practical course will include individual and group written exercises, all designed to give participants enhanced tools to elevate the readability of their reports.
What you'll learn:
- How to draft allegations, which set the foundation for the report
- Tips for outlining/summarizing the investigation process in the report
- How to summarize evidence in a way that ensures critical information is included and extraneous evidence is excluded
- How to craft precise, concise, and effective factual findings and policy conclusions
- About different forms of reports, such as executive summaries, anonymized reports, and tailored versions provided to the parties
- How to write (and be kind) to the ultimate reader of your report

This course is part of our Advanced Investigation Techniques Series. To receive the Advanced Investigation Certificate, complete the Workplace Investigation Fundamentals course and all 3 of the following courses:
