In that time, they have undertaken a number of policy and culture change projects related to addressing sexual harassment, enhancing gender equity, and increasing psychological safety, belonging, and inclusion within the Calgary Police Service.

I like to travel and I travel a lot. I love visiting new places and returning to those that have become familiar to me. I love experiencing new people, new food, new sights and new lands. However, upon return from a trip outside of Canada I feel a profound sense of gratitude to be “home”. At one point I asked myself why and realized that my feelings are largely attributed to being Canadian. For me, Canada symbolizes peace, welcome, acceptance, inclusion, community, and care.

Lester B. Pearson’s words so wonderfully capture my thoughts about what Canada means to me:

Of all our dreams today there is none more important – or so hard to realise – than that of peace in the world. May we never lose our faith in it or our resolve to do everything that can be done to convert it one day into reality.
